Franklin County Schools (FCS) announced that students of the Bondurant Middle School FFA chapter competed in the 97th Kentucky FFA State Convention, bringing home a haul of state titles and top-five finishes. The competition hosts more than 50 middle school chapters from across the Commonwealth.

The Kentucky FFA State Convention is an annual event where students compete in leadership and career development events and are recognized for achievements and excellence in agriculture education. Each year, thousands of members, advisors, students, and supporters attend the event.

“Competing against some of the best middle FFA programs in the Commonwealth, our students demonstrated exceptional leadership, communication skills, agricultural knowledge and dedication. Their success is a reflection of countless hours of preparation, perseverance, and commitment to excellence,” said Enoch Welch, Bondurant Middle School Principal. “These accomplishments exemplify what it means to be a Brave. Our students continue to show that hard work, preparation, and determination lead to extraordinary results. They are not only bringing home trophies and banners, but they are also developing the leadership skills and character that will serve them well throughout their lives.”

Bondurant Middle School students earned multiple state titles, including the following:

  • Opening & Closing Team, 1st Place: Harper Triplett (8th grade), Harper Kate Snodgrass (8th grade), Ayla Tolentino (8th grade), Madison Bettencourt (8th grade), Amelia McCoin (7th grade), and Davis Goins (6th grade). This marks a three-year winning streak for Bondurant in this contest.

  • Discussion Meet Team, 1st Place: Everleigh Sutherland (8th grade), Chloe Morris (8th grade), Avery Collins (8th grade), and Aubrey French (8th grade).

  • Prepared Public Speaking, 1st Place: Harper Triplett (8th grade). For the past three years, a BMS student has won this title.

  • Agriscience Fair Division 1, Social Systems, 1st Place: Ayla Tolentino (8th grade). Tolentino will advance to the National FFA competition this fall. Last year, she placed 8th in the nation.

Bondurant students also earned top honors across a variety of leadership and technical events:

  • Extemporaneous Public Speaking, 2nd Place: Ayla Tolentino (8th grade)

  • Agriscience Fair Division 2 (Animal Systems), 3rd Place: Rachel Lyon (7th grade) & Molly Dews (7th grade)

  • Quiz Bowl Team, 4th Place: Harper Triplett (8th grade), Rachel Lyon (7th grade), Didi Dickinson (7th grade), Cora VanZee (6th grade), and Luke Mefford (6th grade)

Bondurant FFA also recognizes the exceptional effort of its students who represented the chapter with pride and professionalism.

  • Essay Contest: Layla White (6th grade)

  • Spanish Creed Contest: Junior Soto Hernandez (8th grade) & Mateo Chavarria (8th grade)

“Every year, I feel so fortunate to work with the best and brightest students in our school. This year was no different. These students worked extremely hard over the last few months to learn new skills, push themselves, and make Bondurant proud,” said Gracie Webb, Bondurant Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor. “FFA is not just about farming, but about its ability to prepare the next generation of students to lead. I know that through the lessons they learned, each of these students has a bright future ahead of them. I am thankful to be just a small part of their story.”
